Healing Venezuela Infrastructure Programme will develop projects to repair, reinstate and buy important medical equipment which is needed to improve the Venezuelan health system. With your help, an operating theatre at the most important cancer hospital, Padre Machado - which is located in the low income neighbourhood of "El Cementerio" in Caracas - will be back in service to attend not just patients with cancer from the capital, but also individuals from surrounding areas.
In Venezuela, the second highest cause of death is cancer, with approximately 82 individuals dying daily from that illness. The lack of economic resources to support specialised hospitals means they are deteriorating and Padre Machado hospital in Caracas, which treats and cares for cancer patients, is one of the most affected by the lack of help.
Your donation will help bring back one of the operating theatres that will enable the doctors and specialists to treat their cancer patients and give them timely access to diagnosis, stop cancers spreading and perform oncological operations on patients of Caracas and neighbouring areas.
This project will be able to assist approximately 128 individuals monthly who are in need of receiving diagnoses, treatment and surgery. The hospital will be able to reincorporate the use of the operating room for the 13 specialities and attend patients who are in need of surgical procedures for treatment, care and diagnosis. The annual impact of this project will benefit approximately 1536 patients not only from the capital but also the areas surrounding Caracas.
