In Burundi, which has been heavily affected by conflict and climate and ranked as one of the poorest countries in the world, we began our operations in 2013. We provide skill training, such as agro-processing, upcycling agricultural waste, animal husbandry, tailoring, motorcycle mechanics and small scale business to most vulnerable groups such as single mothers, conflict victims, street children and people in extreme poverty, so that they can make their own lives.
Following independence in 1962, Burundi has experienced repeated ethnic and political conflicts. We assist most vulnerable people in Burundi to become self-reliant where they do not need to depend upon aid, and the average income of people in the area will be increased to help them get rid of poverty as soon as possible. Also, through the support for street children and single mothers, we can reduce the risk of generating street children as well as prevent them from returning to the streets again.
