The extremely severe cyclonic storm Fani, which made landfall at Puri on Friday, unleashed copious rain and windstorm that gusted up to 200 kmph, blowing away thatched roofs of houses, swamped towns and villages, before weakening and entering West Bengal. A massive restoration and relief work is launched on emergency across 10,000 villages and urban areas.The impact of the cyclone which was considered as the deadliest one.
This deadly cyclone damaged 10000 villages and 52 towns in Odisha state. Damages caused by this cyclone will push back the victim's economic status and further they need 20 years of hard work to recover the loss.
We have assessed the affected area, measure the damage and will organize relief camps. We will reach the affected people in a dignified manner and provide relief. Our urgent need is tarpaulins, drinking water, ration, blankets, solar lanterns and operation cost. Now CHHASE and our partners are on the move to activate masses for relief operation.
