Hello Friends & Donors,
Do Your Part joins together with it's volunteers and partners on the ground in thanking you, and the avenue that Global Giving provides non-profits like ours. We are very grateful that we have the ability to present our projects to people that want to reach out to help others in their time of need.
Do Your Part had associates on the ground during the earthquake that struck Nepal on April 25, at 11:52 a.m., we were fortunate to make connection within the first 24 hours and identified orphanges in need. We were able to send someone out to supply food and water and to connect with medical teams in order to direct them to these locations. The saddest thing that we were requested to assist with was to find people that were missing, we were given the last coordinates from cell phones and located their last position, it turned out to be at the lower base camp on Everest, which was buried under tons of mountain debris. We then reached out to the SAR (Search and Rescue) dog teams and directed them to this location. The result was not good, but it gave the family closure.
Damage assessments found many villages, along with orphanages and schools destroyed. Our Project Leader Paris, began listing these villages, the dwellings needing replacements, and the supplies needed to rebuild, which required additional funds in order to meet the new building codes. The first village, Langdi in the district of Gorkha, has received the materials to rebuild and the project is underway to rebuild 22 destroyed homes. The next project is in Mahipate, also in Gorkha, needing to rebuild 31 home.
Another project we care very much about is the children and their schools that were destroyed, Our project leader that is there to help re-establish the schools is Prakash, he is from Nepal, now living in Canada, he has returned to his land to help. We are also involved with assisting an orphanage, also with Global Giving.
The country and people of Nepal continue to need your help, please spread the word. Our deepest and sincerest thank you and Global Giving.
