Thousands of elderly women living in refugee camps in Kigoma, Tanzania, face daily hardship due to poverty, food insecurity, and limited access to essential supplies. According to UNHCR, Tanzania hosts 100,000 women and girls refugees, many of whom are vulnerable older women. This project aims to provide food, clothing, hygiene supplies, and basic healthcare support to elderly women in refugee camps. The intervention will improve their dignity, health, and well-being.
Elderly women in refugee camps often lack family support and reliable sources of income. Many struggle to access nutritious food, warm clothing, and healthcare services. Physical disabilities and age-related illnesses increase their vulnerability. Rising living costs and limited humanitarian resources leave many older women underserved. Without targeted assistance, their health and quality of life continue to deteriorate.
This project will distribute food packages, clothing, blankets, hygiene kits, and essential medicines to elderly women in refugee camps. Community outreach teams will identify those most in need and ensure fair distribution. Health awareness sessions and regular follow-up visits will be conducted. Local volunteers will provide social support and monitor beneficiaries' well-being. The project will prioritize dignity, protection, and inclusion for older women.
Elderly women will experience improved nutrition, health, and personal hygiene. Access to basic necessities will reduce stress and vulnerability. Stronger community support networks will enhance social inclusion and protection. Improved well-being will help elderly women live with greater dignity and security. The project will contribute to healthier and more resilient refugee communities.
