Provide assistance for victims of the floods as well as nonprofit organizations in Mumbai to rebuild after floods devastated much of the city.
The worst monsoon rains in recorded history—37 inches in 24 hours-- have flooded Mumbai, killing residents and destroying homes and businesses. Over 1000 people have died as a result of the rains and flooding, and thousands of families have lost their homes, possessions, and livelihoods. The organizations who provide valuable services to the community have lost equipment, supplies, and, in some cases, office space to work from.
This fund will provide assistance with relief activities in the aftermath of the floods including shelter, clean water, and food. Funds will also help organizations rebuild their infrastructure and replace destroyed equipment and supplies.
Supporting Mumbai organizations working on flood relief will prevent the rains from causing further casualties and disease. Investments in infrastructure and supplies will support rebuilding of livelihoods.
