Mexican Youth ranked 53rd out of 65 OECD countries participating in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2018 study. Boys outperformed girls in mathematics by 12 points, a larger gap than the average gender gap in math in OECD countries: 5 points. Mexican girls significantly outperformed boys in reading; the gender gap was 11 points. We must enable them to have better academic results and foster their mental health. We can detect and correct learning difficulties.
Low school performance in Mexican students (girls and boys) is a serious problem, caused by inattention, emotional problems, as well as parents' abandonment and other aspects. Currently, COVD-19 lockdown and online classes are a problem too. Many students do not progress under these barriers because they have a hard time paying attention; they don't have access to a computer or any kind of equipment to join the online courses. Many students, especially girls, weren't able to take classes in 2020
We have the experience to detect and correct Learning Difficulties in Mathematics. 1. Groups are organized as communities and not as a collection of individuals. 2. The results are verified logically and mathematically. Students must learn mathematics by understanding and actively building new knowledge from experience and considering prior knowledge. 3. Mathematical reasoning is fostered through questions.
In Mexico, 1 in 100 students is at an advantage or considered high-achieving. Conversely, 1 in 10 students is at a disadvantage in academic performance. What's worse, they are not expected to finish high school. This project seeks to improve the academic performance of young students by helping them since primary school.
