Reimagining Masculinity for Boys and Young Men

By Dima Kulyk | Development Officer, Strategic Partnerships

Thanks to the support of your donations, we have continued strengthening our work to support boys and young men across England to develop healthier understandings of masculinity, build positive relationships, and access safe spaces where boys and young men can express themselves and seek support.
We have been working alongside grassroots organisations delivering vital programmes that challenge harmful gender stereotypes, prevent violence, and promote wellbeing among boys and young men. Through this partnership approach, we have supported organisations to expand their reach, strengthen their practice, and create more opportunities for young people to explore what healthy masculinity can look like.
Creating safe spaces and direct support for boys and young men
Our partners have continued providing safe, trusted spaces where boys and young men can talk openly about their experiences, emotions, relationships, and challenges.
The Violence Intervention Project delivered more than 1,500 hours of support through 641 one-to-one sessions, helping young men affected by violence and trauma access specialist guidance and develop healthier coping strategies.
YOH created spaces for boys and young men to reflect, connect, and learn through approximately 100 safe-space sessions, reaching around 150 participants. These sessions encouraged conversations around identity, emotions, respect, relationships, and positive choices.
Breaking the Silence provided direct support to 139 boys and young men while also extending its reach through a helpline accessed by a further 311 young people. This ensured that young men could access support when they needed it most.
Strengthening grassroots organisations and the wider movement
Alongside direct work with young people, we have continued investing in the organisations delivering this important work. Through learning opportunities, networking, and capacity-building support, partners have strengthened their ability to create sustainable and impactful programmes.
We brought organisations together to share learning around trauma-informed approaches, storytelling, safeguarding, and building stronger evidence of impact. These opportunities helped partners learn from each other, strengthen collaboration, and develop new approaches to engaging boys and young men.
Looking ahead
In the coming period, we will continue supporting grassroots organisations, strengthening evidence of what works, and expanding opportunities for collaboration. Together, we aim to ensure that more boys and young men have access to safe, supportive spaces where they can grow, learn, and thrive.
Thank you to all GlobalGiving supporters for helping make this work possible. Your support enables grassroots organisations to continue creating meaningful change in the lives of young people and contributing to a more equal and compassionate society.
