After Hurricane Maria, ReImagina devised recommendations to rebuild a strong, equitable and prosperous Puerto Rico with the input of local residents and stakeholders. ReImagina is promoting the implementation of these recommendations and developing transparency tools and multi-stakeholder coalitions to advance reforms, integrate investments and best practices that maximize equity, inclusiveness, collaboration, and social well-being, and track Puerto Rico's recovery efforts progress.
After the devastation caused to Puerto Rico by the 2017 hurricanes, ReImagina was created to reimagine a stronger, more resilient Puerto Rico, promote a participatory and transparent reconstruction process, and produce and promote an actionable and timely set of recommendations to rebuild a stronger Puerto Rico while maximizing the use of recovery funds. There is a wide horizon of opportunities to transform the island following common priorities and promoting a fair reconstruction process.
ReImagina works to help align recovery efforts and bring greater coordination and transparency to the process. ReImagina is fostering coordination and collaboration, prioritizing equity and inclusiveness, maximizing social well-being in all investments and ensuring transparency at all levels of policymaking. ReImagina is developing transparency tools and multi-stakeholder coalitions to involve the public in advancing reforms and tracking the progress of Puerto Rico's recovery efforts.
ReImagina is working to rebuild Puerto Rico on a more solid, equitable and resilient foundation. We collaborate with relevant stakeholders to increase local capacity and assist in the implementation of our recommendations. We serve as a conduit to connect projects with funders/implementers, promoting knowledge exchange, and fostering projects by NGOs and private entities. We are collaborating with others for much needed critical infrastructure reforms, particularly in housing, energy, and water.
