Dear friends, we are glad to share with you the progress of our project for Ukrainian Internally displaced families.
Last two spring months were marked by spring school vacation, so we had a chance to organize few nice cultural programs for IDP children. On March 28, 40 children visited Museum of Klitschko brothers achievements. This unique exhibition of boxing legend brothers carries a social mission to promote healthy lifestyle among young people and strengthen the national spirit.
Having many excited impressions after previous "Gingerbread Fantasies" master-class we decided to continue it together with our good partner pizzeria "Vesuvio". And on March 30 such colourful master-class was organized for 12 IDP families. Children with their mothers painted the honey gingerbread and enjoyed pizza and drinks after that.
Gingerbread fantasies gained the Easter character and continued on April 11 for IDP kids with disabilities. 9 pupils of an inclusive class, together with their parents and teachers, with enthusiasm painted bunnies and Easter eggs with a multicolored glaze and after that treated each other with their arts. In the end of the meeting everyone could communicate with the honoured guest Roman - sambo world champion - 2008. Roman encouraged kids and their parents not to give up under any difficulties and keep following their dreams.
This Easter project was the starting point in our cooperation with this amazing school in Kiev, the only one of its kind. The school includes inclusive classes for children with special needs, some of whom are IDPs from the Eastern Ukraine.
One of them is 10-years old Sophia who escaped from Donetsk together with her family in 2014. Her parents have been facing many difficulties to be able to rent apartment in Kiev and raise up two children. And although Sophia has poor eyesight, she is one of the most positive and joyful children in the class.
Spring school vacation was over, but we keep our integration work for IDP families and we will be happy to inform you very soon about our further progress in that exciting activity! Great thanks one more time for all of you who make it possible!
