Transforming Lives Through Rehabilitation

Dmytro works on balance and core stability

We are proud to share our report for the "Rehabilitation of War Victims in Ukraine" project. Because of your unwavering support, we are witnessing real, measurable transformations. Today, we want to tell you about two brave defenders, Nazariy and Dmytro, whose lives have been changed by your generosity.

Nazariy came to us with severe injuries that affected his speech, coordination, and motor skills. Thanks to our donors, he completed two consecutive rehabilitation courses. This continuity was crucial.

Today, Nazariy is regaining his independence. He has significantly improved his speech, understanding 80% of spoken language without delay. In physical therapy, he worked tirelessly on his balance and strength. In occupational therapy, he regained function in his right arm, allowing him to perform daily tasks on his own. For the first time, Nazariy can spend half a day without constant supervision, a milestone that seemed impossible just months ago. He even practiced social integration by visiting local shops and cafes with minimal assistance.

For Dmytro, the focus was on mobility and gait quality. We don’t just track progress by feeling; we track it by the numbers. After his intensive course, Dmytro showed remarkable clinical improvements:

  • Speed: His time for a 10-meter walk dropped from 5.3 to 3.8 seconds.

  • Endurance: In a 6-minute walk test, his distance increased from 535 to 590 meters.

  • Pain Management: He began the program in pain; he finished it pain-free.

  • Balance: He reached the maximum level on the Berg Balance Scale.

This work is made possible through collaborations with partners like the Canada-Ukraine Foundation and thousands of individual donors like you. Your participation isn't just a donation; it’s a "price of restoration" for a human life.

We have three more spots to fill for our current group of five beneficiaries. Your continued support will help us bring the next hero from a hospital bed back to their first confident steps.

With gratitude,
CITIZEN UKRAINE CHARITY FOUNDATION
