Al Haddadin - Enhancing Rainwater Drainage Network on the Stairs is a community-led initiative under the Tripoli Peace Initiative, funded by the United Nations' Peacebuilding Fund and implemented by IOM with SHIFT and the Municipality of Tripoli. The project aims to enhance the drainage network on the stairs to prevent rainwater accumulation, improve safety, reduce flooding, and enhance living conditions.
The deterioration and inefficiency of the rainwater drainage network in Al Haddadin causes water accumulation on the stairs during rainfall. This leads to pedestrian slips, flooding in nearby homes and shops, property damage, and increased safety risks. The situation negatively affects residents' daily lives, local businesses, and the overall quality and safety of the public environment.
The project will improve the rainwater drainage network on the stairs to ensure proper water flow and reduce flooding risks. By upgrading the infrastructure, the initiative will improve pedestrian safety, protect nearby homes and shops from water damage, and create a safer and more functional public space for residents and visitors.
The enhancement of the drainage network will reduce rain-related damage, improve public safety, and enhance the quality of life for residents and local traders. Improved infrastructure will strengthen resilience against seasonal flooding and contribute to a cleaner and safer urban environment. In the long term, the project will support local stability and social cohesion through community-led action and shared public benefit.
