Earthquake Reconstruction in Azad Jammu & Kashmir
Report –July 2020- September 2020
Fully damaged houses Construction (14*14)
During the reporting period of (July 2020 – September 2020), FACES Pakistan constructed 280 fully damaged house in the earthquake affected areas of Azad Jammu & Kashmir. The constructed 280 houses were handed over to 280 beneficiaries/families of this project for their security, safety, comfort and sustainable accommodation. These houses provided them thermal comfort, protection from the climate and secured their privacy. During the construction of houses, beneficiaries were selected as laborer for cash for work in order to provide livelihood opportunities during reconstruction phase. The material of houses and techniques were used to minimize adverse impact of local natural environment during the summer and winter seasons.
Fully damaged washroom Construction (6*6)
During the reporting period, total 280 washroom has been completed in earthquake affected areas of Azad Jammu & Kashmir and handed over to 280 beneficiaries/families. The beneficiaries were involved in the designing phase of washroom in order to meet the WASH needs appropriately. During the construction, the families were also the part of management of construction of their washroom. After the completion of washrooms, the men, women and children of all ages were aware and mobilized to adopt measures to prevent deterioration in hygiene conditions and to use and maintain the facilities which were provided them. The FACES Pakistan have provided access to appropriate and acceptable washroom facilities close to their houses to allow rapid, safe and secure access at all times (day and night) and to maintain their personal hygiene, health, dignity and well-being.
Livelihood Support
The FACES Pakistan provided the livelihood support to 753 affected families in earthquake affected areas of Azad Jammu Kashmir during the reporting period of July 2020 – September 2020. The support enabled them to recover and develop the resources necessary for their food security & future livelihoods priorities. The selection process was adopted in order to select most deserving and affected people who have lost their livelihood and stored food stuff for their survival. The community groups were also facilitated to reach most deserving families through strong verification process.
