Al Quobbe - Rehabilitation of Al Quobbe Kindergarten Facade, Solar Lighting Installation, and Creation of a Children's Playground is a community-led initiative under the Tripoli Peace Initiative, funded by the United Nations' Peacebuilding Fund and implemented by IOM with SHIFT and the Municipality of Tripoli. The project aims to rehabilitate the kindergarten facade, install solar lighting, and create a safe playground to improve safety, child wellbeing, and community cohesion.
The new Al Quobbe Kindergarten suffered damage to its external facade due to conflict, while the surrounding area lacks adequate public lighting and safe recreational spaces for children. These conditions negatively affect children's wellbeing, limit safe community interaction, and reduce the quality and safety of the public environment for residents and families.
The project will rehabilitate the kindergarten facade, install solar-powered lighting in the surrounding area, and establish a dedicated playground for children. These improvements will create a safer, more welcoming environment for families and children while promoting social interaction and community participation through a locally led initiative.
The project will improve safety, restore dignity to public spaces, and provide children with a secure area for recreation and development. Enhanced lighting and rehabilitated infrastructure will strengthen community confidence and encourage positive social interaction. In the long term, the initiative will support social cohesion, child wellbeing, and local stability while restoring hope and community ownership in Al Quobbe.
