Project narrative report

By Ziyad Dede | CEO

The Rehabilitation of War-Damaged Houses project, implemented by Elaf RD, aimed to restore safe and dignified living conditions for conflict-affected families in Syria. Over the course of the project, a total of 100 war-damaged houses were successfully rehabilitated, directly benefiting approximately 100 families (around 500 individuals). The intervention included essential structural repairs such as fixing roofs, walls, doors, and windows, as well as rehabilitating WASH facilities and restoring basic electrical systems to ensure safe and habitable living environments.

Through a targeted and needs-based approach, the project prioritized the most vulnerable households, including returnees, female-headed households, and families with persons with disabilities. The rehabilitation works not only improved safety, privacy, and dignity for beneficiaries but also reduced their reliance on inadequate or temporary shelters. In addition, the project contributed to local economic recovery by engaging local labor during implementation.

Overall, the project achieved its objective of supporting early recovery and enhancing community stability by enabling families to return to and remain in their homes under improved living conditions. Continued investment in shelter rehabilitation is critical to sustain recovery efforts and strengthen resilience among conflict-affected populations in Syria.
