By means of regular sporting activities this project contributes to the psychosocial rehabilitation and strengthening of children that have been affected by the conflict in Lebanon.
This project contributes to the rehabilitation of children and youth who have experienced severe stress and trauma due to war of summer 2006 and the following internal conflict in Lebanon by means of regular sport activities. Through guided sport activities the participants are provided with a healthy regular routine in an otherwise chaotic environment. So far the project has been provided psycho-social support to roughly 400 children, affected by the recent conflict in Lebanon.
Sports activities are organized and contribute to empowering the children, developing their life skills such as team spirit, mutual respect, and control of aggression. This will help them overcome their traumatic experiences.
After a pilot phase of 2 years, the project will be integrated into local structures for sustainable continuation of activities. Thanks to capacity building of the local project team and other local staff an important multiplier could be created.
This project has provided additional documentation in a PDF file (projdoc.pdf).
