Dear Friends,
Thank you for continuing to support our efforts to restore a reliable, solar-powered water supply for the people of Matale C village and its local primary school.
Since our last update, we have continued laying the foundations for the installation of the new water system. While visible construction has progressed more slowly than we had hoped, important work has continued behind the scenes to ensure the project is delivered in a way that will benefit the community for many years to come.
Following the successful pump testing completed earlier this year, we remain confident that the borehole can sustainably provide enough water to meet both current and future demand. This gives us confidence that the investment being made today will continue to support the growing community throughout the long dry seasons when alternative water sources disappear.
Alongside preparing for installation, we have continued working with community representatives and local government partners to finalise the long-term management arrangements for the new solar-powered system. These discussions are essential to ensure that responsibilities for operation, maintenance and future repairs are clearly understood before the system becomes operational. By investing time now, we are helping build a water supply that remains reliable long after installation is complete.
The major solar equipment has already been secured, placing us in a strong position for the next stage of the project. Our remaining focus is obtaining the final installation materials, including electrical cabling, mounting structures and supporting infrastructure needed to connect the entire system safely and efficiently.
Once completed, the new solar-powered borehole will transform access to clean water for both the village and the nearby primary school. Families will no longer need to travel several kilometres in search of water, children will spend more time in education rather than collecting water, and the community will no longer rely on an ageing diesel generator with its high operating costs and frequent breakdowns.
Every donation now helps us move closer to completing the final stage of installation. With the borehole tested, the main equipment secured and community planning well advanced, we are excited to be approaching the point where this project can begin delivering life-changing benefits to hundreds of Maasai families.
Thank you for continuing this journey with us. Your generosity is helping create a cleaner, more reliable and more sustainable future for the people of Matale C.
With sincere thanks,
Leigh
