Dear Global Giver,
Thank you for your ongoing support of GoodWeave’s efforts. Our work to rehabilitate children extends far beyond freeing them from child labor—it’s about offering them the chance to rebuild their lives, just like Subin.
Subin, now 14, comes from Nijgadh, a small municipality in Nepal’s Bara district. His childhood was marked by challenges at home. When his parents separated, Subin was left in the care of his grandparents. Later, he rejoined his mother in a crowded new household, but the lack of space and support made it difficult for him to study or feel secure.
Driven by circumstances at home, Subin left to find work. He started working in a hotel in Janakpur, cleaning tables and serving food. Before long, he found himself in a carpet factory in Kathmandu, working grueling hours from 3:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., with little time for rest or proper care.
That changed when GoodWeave’s monitoring team met Subin during a routine visit. With their help, Subin found refuge at Hamro Ghar, our transit home, where he could finally heal and feel safe again.
Today, Subin has embraced his new routine. He’s attending school, making friends, and developing a love for learning—especially reading about famous scientists and their inventions. Subin dreams of becoming a scientist himself one day. He also participates in group activities, dances, and play, finally able to enjoy the childhood he was denied for so long.
The progress children like Subin make is possible because of your kindness. Your generosity gives children the care, education, and opportunities they deserve. Thank you for your continued dedication to ending child labor—your support through GlobalGiving makes all the difference.
With Gratitude,
Jon
