Rehabilitation center for street children

Muwakhat Foundation is working for street children, homeless children and who are doing child labour or working in unsafe environment. Our ultimate purpose: to take out children from current unhealthy environment, give their childhood back, secure their future and have basic human rights.

Muwakhat Foundation is going to establish Rehabilitation and pre-school center for street children. These children involve in child labour, begging, forced into a life of crime, violence and are exposed to abuse. This center helps them into two phases:

Phase 1: rehabilitate them from shock, relax, break negative habits and bring them back to normal life.
Phase 2: give them elementary education through fun and entertainment and ultimate purpose to graduate them for regular school.

Muwakhat Foundation was given several awareness sessions on education to parents and result is 34 children registered for center.

PLACE OFFER BY COMMUNITY FOR REHABILITATION & PRE-SCHOOL CENTER

Parents, who are willing for education to their children, offer a land for center. We will build temporary infrastructure because they are living at government place since last 25 years and not have ownership.

MULTI SERVICES OFFER FROM THIS CENTER

We are establishing this center for street children but this center will offer multi services to women and children of poor and homeless families. i.e

Part time skills training to girls
Women who have skills of embroidery and patch work to link them with market to earn income and increase financial security of their families
Awareness sessions to families on basic legal rights

Way Forward

Muwakhat Foundation will establish center till end of May 2018. Before join center, children will get full medical check up, uniform and school bag.

NO SCHOOL FOR STREET CHILDREN

Mother willing send her children to school

Foundation team started a project to help homeless women and children since July 2016 with a distribution of new clothes to children age zero till twelve years on Eid-ul-fitar.( Muslim festival). It was observed that these women and children are most neglected and vulnerable group, lack basic needs and most important these families ignored and not treated as a respectable citizen of Pakistan. People help once in a while by food, dry ration, and clothes but no one did the effort to bring them in society who excluded.

April ,2017 Muwakhat Foundation conducted need assessment survey to identify needs. This helps to develop the roadmap of homeless families for the transformation of their life from neglected to a respectable citizen. This was the first time that women were interviewed. They were shared their life challenges and dreams.

SCHOOLS REFUSED TO ADMIT STREET CHILDREN

After rigorous awareness sessions some mothers willing to send their children to school, who are exposed to abuse, violence, child labour, begging and forced into a life of crime. Most charities and the government are focused on opening schools for these children but there are no government or charity programs aimed at getting these children to school. Our two members went to government school but they bluntly refused.

REHABILITATION AND PRE-SCHOOL CENTER

During registration of street children and their families, Muwakhat Foundation suggest to provide place for center in their community. In center

We bring these children to a safe environment that are filled with toys, games, fun activities and sports
We teach them respect, team work, communication skills, cleanliness, honesty and other fundamental characteristics while they are having fun.
We provide them bags, uniforms, shoes, books, stationary, sweaters and other basic luxuries that we take for granted.
We make their stay in the centre so much fun that they don't want to go back on the streets and want to stay with us while we prepare them for mainstream education.
Once they start wanting to achieve a life off the streets and are ready we enrol them into main stream education and follow their progress.
They continue to attend our centres while in school which helps us continue with their development.
