In Romania, hundreds of dogs rescued from public shelters suffer from extreme trauma and fear, making them unadoptable. Our organization is rehabilitating 254 of these dogs through a structured daily socialization and training program led by 8 dedicated staff members. Your support will provide food, behavioral rehabilitation, and hands-on training so these dogs can safely interact with people and finally find loving homes.
In Romania, many dogs rescued from public shelters and the streets suffer from severe trauma caused by neglect, violence, and prolonged confinement. These dogs develop fear and defensive aggression, making them unadoptable. Without structured behavioral rehabilitation, they remain confined in shelters for years with little chance of finding permanent homes.
This project sustains a structured rehabilitation program for 254 traumatized shelter dogs in Bacau County, Romania. Led by 8 trained staff members, the program provides daily positive interaction, behavioral training, leash work, and safe socialization. Over the past five years, this model has helped hundreds of severely traumatized dogs regain trust and become adoptable.
Each rehabilitated and adopted dog frees space for another traumatized shelter dog waiting for intervention. This creates a sustainable rehabilitation cycle that extends far beyond the initial 254 dogs. With increased funding, the program can scale to support even more dogs, reducing long-term shelter overcrowding and improving national adoption outcomes.
