To our dearest supporters,

Great strides have been taken since the start of our fundraising campaign. Already, we have held multiple training workshops, getting villagers prepared to operate the Community Fish Refuge. I can tell that the villagers of Santey Village anxiously await the seasonal rains which brings vitality to their dry rice fields and fish ponds. Santey villagers appear energetic and excited to embark on this new venture, which is sure to benefit them and their families.

In addition to our preliminary training sessions, we have made other accomplishments--

  • Released 600 silver carp fish-fingerlings into reserve pond
  • Planted over 50 trees, designed to stabilize ponds during heavy rains
  • Conducted baseline nutritional surveys for 167 households, to be compared with nutrition after this year's fish harvest in Community Fish Refuge

GlobalGiving's, Charissa Murphy, even joined us one afternoon for a visit with village leaders leading a tour of the Community Fish Refuge. I have alerted the villagers of our international donor effort, and your generosity. Village members of Santey Commune thank all of you.

More updates soon to come...!
