Since 2016, we have provided dignified psychosocial support to people living in a prolonged state of emergency in Ritsona Refugee camp. Offering safe spaces to gather, play, learn, and generally regain a semblance of normalcy, we endeavor to be a beacon of light and hope to children and youth who have experienced trauma and extreme hardship. Activities range from English classes to football tournaments to music workshops, based on requests from the community.
1200,000 refugees and asylum seekers are still stranded in Greece, but they are increasingly fading from public consciousness. We are counting on your support to carry our work forward. For the coming months, we have strong partnerships in place, long-term strategies, and a tireless team fighting for our mission. Over the past two years, asylum seekers are facing increasingly harsh policies. We urgently need your help to continue to adapt and meet these challenges.
We have never ceased our commitment to serve as a lighthouse for those in need. Whether on the shores of Lesvos or in Ritsona camp, our teams have been there as an unwavering beacon of warmth and stability. We have a wealth of ideas for activities in Ritsona, which has almost tripled in size in the past year alone. Thanks to you, we have already been able to develop our Community Volunteer programme and re-launch our sports activties! Your support ensures that we can carry our plans forward.
In Ritsona Camp, our programmes are sustainable, accountable and culturally sensitive, with the Community Volunteer programme allowing camp residents to take ownership of the spaces and participate in their development. As thousands are caught in limbo, Lighthouse Relief gives them room to develop their talents, build their resilience and form a community.
