Dear Donors,
Thank you for giving to Barakat Inc.'s Refugee Girls Scholarship Program in Pakistan. While we have seen a few set-backs, we have also seen newcomers into the program.
2 of the girls who had started the program moved back to Afghanistan with their families; 3 others had to drop out due to family pressure; and 1 graduated from 12th grade reaching the end of her school education.
7 new girls, who are also graduates of the Barakat schools, have started the scholarship program as 9th graders. We have received prior familial consent and are hopeful that these girls will complete their education up to 10th grade and inshallah, all the way to 12th grade.
We will support them every step of the way - financially and emotionally. Barakat schools offer perhaps the only option for availing and prioritizing education in the fiercly conservative Turkmen community that the come from.
