The Strack Premier Transportation initiative I told you about last progress report we begin planting this coming Saturday, September 28th. It’s the first of the three projects LRFF combined to total 9500 trees (9 ½ hectare), titled “Educational Reforestation in La Fortuna”. This and the other two projects were both up on Global Giving until Strack Transportation decided to sponsor them with full funding to offset the businesses projected 2013 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. After five years the young forest will be sequestering a minimum of 333 metric tonnes every year for the company.
This Saturday we begin by planting 500 trees and in November another 3000+. All three projects are in the same general area as “Reforesting the Deforestation” and are living proof that these projects are feasible to compensate for household and/or business CO2 emissions. The final 9000 trees will be planted next May at Elias Cruz Quintanilla’s amazing “For The Monkeys” project.
Please check out the photos I’ve included here of the LRFF nursery and most recent plantings in Costa Rica with some of our volunteers. We can get this project funded and planted as well, please share with your friends and family. You know what they say about word of mouth…
LET’S GET PLANTING!
