During 2026, Alternare plans to reforest 40 hectares in different sites selected by the local communities in the ejidos and indigenous communities of El Capulín, Donato Guerra and San Pablo Malacatepec in the State of Mexico. In Michoacán sites were selected in the communities of Carpinteros, Crescencio Morales, Francisco Serrato, Nicolás Romero and San Juan Zitácuaro, El Paso, San Cristóbal and Las Trojes. To carry out this reforestation 34 nurseries were set up (two in Alternare’s training center, ten in communities and 22in schools). We foresee producing a total of 40,000 pine, oyamel, oak, ash and alder trees.
This coming summer, Alternare plans to reforest 40 hectares with 40,000 trees! This was decided in the planning workshops with the local communities mentioned above, where individuals expressed their needs and agreed on which areas need to be restored and who will participate.
Additionally, fiveworkshops were held (three on fuel-efficient stove building and two for rainwater-capturing cisterns). As a result, nine fuel-efficient stoves and 2 cisterns were built, benefiting 22 families (approximately 100 people).
Hortensia, from ‘El Aguacate’ community, built a fuel-efficient stove and upon concluding it told us, “I’m very proud of having learned how to make a fuel-efficient stove. It took away thee fear I had of using tools that are generally used by men.”
MBF looks forward to seeing the great results that come by supporting Alternare’s great work. We could not do it without your support!
THANK YOU!
