Family with their new fuel-efficient stove
MBF Begins 2013 as a GlobalGiving Leader
Thanks to your generous support we have raised our rank in GlobalGiving and become leaders.
After wrapping up 2012 with a series of successful conservation workshops, we initiated 2013 holding a forest tree production workshop, followed by 5 more on fruit tree production. We also held 3 workshops to build a total of 10 fuel-efficient stoves. Fuel-efficient stoves decrease the use of wood for cooking by 50% and reduce toxic fumes, benefiting both the forest due to reduced logging as well as improving the health of local families.
A total of 69 women and 35 men participated in the 9 workshops described above and more than 190 people from 27 local communities held assessment and planning meetings to determine their plans for 2013. We are looking forward to a spring full of flowers blooming and a flurry of activities by the communities who will be busy implementing their projects for this year.
The first GlobalGiving Bonus Day of the year is also coming up this Wednesday, March 13th .GlobalGiving will match donations at 30% up to $1,000 per donor per project starting at 9:00 am EDT (this time in your city)!
