Towards the end of October, we deployed 290 reef star structures, with more than 4,300 coral fragments in the Tun Sakaran Marine Park in Sabah. This 8-day programme saw more than 50 participants come together, who were primarily the Selakan Youth and the local community of Selakan, in Semporna, Sabah. The Head of the Selakan Village and the local community were very supportive towards this entire programme.
During these 8 days, the team got together to prepare all the frames, including the coating process, before they were ready to eb deployed. We had a lot of help from different groups in this entire programme: the Selakan Marine Conservation Group, Sabah Parks, Aquadive Dsicover Sdn Bhd, Kulapuan Youth, Mabul Youth, Salleh adn the MARRS Trainer from Indonesia, who taught us about this methd through seevral online training sessions.
Note: Giving Tuesday is happening on 28th November 2023. Every donation made during these 24 hours will be matched by GlobalGiving! All your contributions go towards helping us run our reef conservation programmes, such as this reef rehabilitation effort. Be on the lookout for more announcements as we approach Giving Tuesday!
