Dear Friends and Well wishers,
We are happy to share that we this in the last three months we have focused on supporting students to complete the school year successfully and to attend their exams. Following this, we conducted some small summer camp sessions before the weather became too hot.
The summer camp was used to teach the participating students new forms of arts, crafts, and other extra-curricular activities as well as to bring out the latent aptitudes. Some of the activities were also structured to lay stress on recycling especially paper The participants were divided into teams with a team leader for each day of the camp; This enabled easier coordination of participants, handling of materials and conduct of activities. This also ensured individualised attention to all participants.
Three days activities were conducted, starting with games for the children followed by arts, crafts and dance. Fun games were conducted at regular intervals to ensure that the children’s energy levels did not dip. Team games and races were organised to enable team building and trust formation among the students. Refreshments were given twice to keep the energy levels up in the face of the summer heat. On the concluding day, all the participants were given a gift as token of appreciation for having attended the camp. All the artwork and craftwork has been collected and stored for display at the Exhibition at a later date. A total of fifty students participated in the camp.
The participants showed enthusiasm and zeal during the summer camp. The students quickly picked up the new arts and crafts items taught. They were excited to learn new things and to know that they could try these at home with the materials at their disposal. The students confessed that the art, craft and dance items were all new to them and that this was the first time they are exposed to these forms.
Thanks to all for helping us to make this possible
