Project Report | Feb 21, 2017
Increasing social awareness among students

By Malliga | Supervisor

Dear Friends and Well wishers

All children have to be sensitized on social issues and no better place than at school.  The project has taken up to having social awareness clubs were conducted.

In the first session, a revision was done by dividing the students into groups and conducting a quiz contest based on the learnings so far. The students participated enthusiastically and the quiz served as a good tool for revision. In the second session, money and banking was continued. Students were taught about the sources of income and expenditure and calculating savings. Sessions have also been done on democracy, types of governance, India as a democracy, monarchy, dictatorship and rights. The students here were comparatively less receptive and therefore, much more explanation using examples, activities and quizzes was given.

Talent clubs were also initiated in some of the schools and all the students were included and were asked to do something that would bring out their talent. The students were provided with a space to showcase their acting, singing and dancing talents.

Scholarships were awarded each year to deserving students chosen by the class teachers and HM. This year 40 scholarships were awarded. Each student was felicitated with a school kit consisting of school bag, lunch bag, knapsack, pencil pouch, water bottle, lunch box, stationery, dictionary, exam pad and footwear. Some of the parents personally thanked the project for rewarding and motivating their ward.

Thanks to all of you for your continued support for making these actvities possible
