Strengthening Slow Learners

By Malliga | Supervisor

Regular after-school tuitions and special classes for slow learners.ASER Assessment conducted in two of the project schools. A total of 121    students out of 294 students assessed.

Student assessment of 161 slow learners conducted in three schools to identify specific problem areas. Three monthly follow up assessments of 120 of these students attending after-school tuitions to track progress.

Upon identification of slow learners and their problem areas through the student assessments, monthly follow up assessments were conducted for the same set of slow learners in order to track their progress and measure the impact of the tuitions conducted.

The data from these assessment suggest that overall in the 3 schools, 91% slow learners have improved in concentration/ attention, 53% in Maths, 80% in English and 50% in Tamil. The progress made by slow learners from above assessments was compared with the school level scores from exams. We are beginning to see some improvements that are sustained among class four and class five students.
