The installation of energy crops in the Peruvian Amazon is considered a source of raw material for the production of biofuels. The promotion of these crops could be affecting natural forest areas and indigenous territories, causing serious environmental and social impacts, given its potential to encourage deforestation.
Every year in Peru 500 000 acres of Amazonian forest are lost. Generated by activities such as agriculture, livestock, illicit crops, hydrocarbon exploration and mining, road construction and monocultures (oil palm); are causes of deforestation in the Peruvian Amazon forest. The latter has proven to be one of the principal causes of the deforestation of primary tropical forests, causing grave environmental, social, and economic impacts. The Amazon benefits the world, Protect it!
Information is power. It is necessary that the world community know about the severe damage caused by deforestation and degradation of Amazon forests. Since the disappearance of forests accelerates climate change. That is why we want to spread in digital media what is happening in the Peruvian Amazon, to create a global awareness to protect forests.
Create a virtual community of supporters of the Peruvian Amazon with at least 2 million members online and as a result get a recovery of 2.5 million acres over the next 10 years. Besides reducing to 50% the annual deforestation rate.
