Our First Teacher Training Webinar!

By Hassana Shuaibu | Snr. Program Officer

In collaboration with ACE Education UK, we started the Knowledge Exchange Program; an intensive training initiative that provides Government school teachers in Nigeria with comprehensive professional development aimed at bridging the gap of education inequity particularly for underserved pupils, students, and out-of-school children. Qualified volunteer private school teachers from the UK and education experts provide in-person or online training sessions that equip our teacher beneficiaries with the necessary skills required to provide 21st-century teaching to public school children, thus improving teaching capacity and learning outcomes.

In line with our goal, we organized a 2-day webinar in September that focused on enhancing skills in Lesson Planning, English, Mathematics, and Topic-based Learning. The sessions were designed to equip teachers with practical knowledge and tools that could be immediately applied in their classrooms. Seven (7) volunteer teachers took different sessions of the program.

Each session of the webinar covered methods and skills needed by our teacher beneficiaries to enhance student learning;

  • Lesson Planning session; focused on effective lesson planning strategies, emphasizing structure, time management, and student engagement.
  • Teaching English Language session; focused on innovative methods for teaching English, covering speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Teaching Mathematics session; explored ways to make math lessons more engaging and accessible for students.
  • Topic-based Learning session; covered ways of implementing interdisciplinary, topic-based learning approaches to foster holistic student understanding and application of knowledge.

At the end of the webinar, 68% of the participants responded to our survey a positive likelihood of applying the knowledge gained in their teaching practices.

Every teacher training session we can successfully hold helps bring to reality our mission of enhancing teachers' skills and knowledge to foster a more inclusive and effective educational environment that promotes lifelong learning and academic excellence.

Kindly keep supporting our work by donating and sharing why you choose to support us with your community of family and friends.

Thank you!
