Dear friend of PECES,
For the past five years, the Community Labor and Entrepreneurship Training Institute (ICaLEC) has transformed lives through education and hands-on learning. Its training model helps participants develop practical skills while strengthening their motivation to learn, grow, and continue pursuing new knowledge throughout their lives.
ICaLEC offers free workshops in masonry, cabinetmaking, drywall installation, basic residential electricity, and marine mechanics. The program welcomes participants beginning at age 16, and its oldest participant to date has been 80 years old, demonstrating that it is never too early or too late to acquire new skills and create new opportunities.
To date, 577 individuals have successfully completed their workshops and received certificates of completion. Through these efforts, ICaLEC has reached approximately 100 communities across 29 municipalities in Puerto Rico. Behind each certificate is a person who now has additional tools to pursue employment, explore self-employment, increase their earning potential, and contribute their knowledge to their family and community.
Through ICaLEC, P.E.C.E.S. continues advancing its mission of strengthening Puerto Rico’s workforce and entrepreneurial sector. Training more people means developing human potential and helping individuals become active participants in the island’s economic and social development. These opportunities can contribute to the financial stability of families while building communities with greater knowledge, confidence, and capacity to move forward.
Your support for Redefining Community Development in Puerto Rico allows us to continue making these educational opportunities accessible and reaching more people who are ready to transform their future. When one person gains new skills, an entire family gains new possibilities and the community becomes stronger.
Thank you for believing in the power of education and in the potential of every person we serve
