With the money we received from GlobalGiving, we have successfully been able to cover a substantial portion of the cost of food and other expenses. We were able to purchase nutritious food for the 35 children at the orphanage. We have also been able to provide the children with broad spectrum antibiotics as well as other generic dysentery, cold and flu medicine. In addition to food and medicine, the money from GlobalGiving has funded a portion of the salary for a child care provider and cook, as well as a trip to Sihanoukville for all of the children.
"Before receiving the donations from GlobalGiving, we did not have a cook. Some of the older children at the center had to miss school often because they needed to cook for the rest of the children. Now, we are able to provide a salary for our cook, Im Sokhom and for myself. The children now have enough food to eat and can go to school" says Run Sinuon (Child Care Provider at REDA).
So you can better understand how we have used the money you have donated, we want to share with you that we budgeted the $5,000 you donated on GlobalGiving over one year. So far, GlobalGiving has funded $1,248 of the $2,778 needed to sustain the orphanage for three months. The remainder of the money you have provided will continue to be used for food and medicine for the children as well as salaries for our staff for the rest of the year. We are supplementing the remainder of the costs to run the orphanage through our organization. However, any additional money you donate will help to continue improving the welfare of the children and allow us to pay our staff who have taken pay cuts due to lack of funding.
We would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this project by donating on GlobalGiving. The money you have donated has helped improve the overall welfare of the children in the orphanage.
