Female Genital Mutilation/Cut is the worst form of gender based violence against women/girls. We advocate against FGM/C. We believe in health of our women and girls. We support SRHR of girls and women. FGM/C in Kenya is 21% we target Tharaka Community where 56% of women/girls Undergo FGM/ C and in Nairobi where 8% of girls Undergo FGM/C. We conduct SRHR workshop in schools and villages to sensitize both men and women about dangers of FGM/C. Our advocacy against FGM/C is to end FGM/C.
Our project is needed because FGM/C remains a problem in Kenya. The most recent Kenya Demographic Health Survey (KDHS), shows that FGM/C among women aged 5-49 is 21%, and it is 98% among Somali women, 96.1%among Kisii Women, and 73.2% among the Masaai women and 56% in Tharaka Community. We advocate against FGM/C in Tharaka community and in Nairobi Slums. We conduct workshops and community dialogues to end the Vice in schools and in villages. We empower girls and women to claim their rights.
Our organization will solve this problem by educating women and girls about their rights and strengthening Sexual and reproductive health and rights movement at grassroots level and building the capacity of our staff and improve our organization infrastructure to position us in the frontline of advocating for the right of women and girls to end one of the worst form of violence against women (FGM/C).
This project will offer a permanent solution to the communities in ending FGM/C in this generation once and once for all by educating community groups ,indigenous groups , and all stake holders about dangers of FGM/C and they will own the project and continue protecting the rights of women and girls. Women and girls will be able to claim their rights. The project will see raise in number of women/girls rights activist at grassroots level.
