We are grateful for the support received for Recovery Housing for Heart Transplant Patients!
Providing post-transplant housing is a critical need here in Northern California. Often not covered by insurance and always medically required, the cost of this housing can financially devastate a family already struggling to make ends meet. Families like Alina's. At age 4, she was diagnosed with a form of cardiomyopathy that was severe enough to require immediate admission to the hospital. Because mom was pregnant and now labeled high risk, she was unable to be at Alina's bedside and unable to work. Dad took leave from work to care for his daughter. The bills piled up and they were left with no resources to pay their bills at home, let alone post-transplant housing. Because of your generosity this courageous family was provided with three months of post-transplant recovery housing.
We're launching a new program in the next two months that will go beyond providing housing to providing one time support for heart transplant families who need financial help with a past-due rent bill, or utility bill or the costs of returning to the hospital for follow up exams. In addition, we are offering to partner these patients with a financial advisor to help create a strategy to recover from the debt that transplant has brought them too. Learn more about it at our website.
Again, thank you so much for your support!
