A Safe Haven for Healing: Summer Update from the R

By Isabelle | Project Leader

Dear friends and supporters,

This summer, the Recovery Camp continues its work to provide psychological recovery for children affected by the war in Ukraine. The camp is more than just a place. It is a sanctuary where children rediscover joy, trust, and self-worth.

During our recent sessions, children engaged in structured play, art therapy, music, and movement activities led by trained psychologists and facilitators. Many arrived withdrawn, anxious, or overwhelmed. Just days later, we witnessed remarkable changes: shy smiles emerging, laughter returning, and friendships forming.

One young participant shared:

“Here I feel like I can breathe again. I’m not afraid at night anymore.”

These moments remind us that healing is possible, and that your support makes it real.

We are currently preparing for the next wave of sessions and continuing to train new volunteers. With ongoing funding, we can expand access to longer stays and follow-up mental health support once children return home.

From all of us at the Recovery Camp and our partners, thank you. Every donation, every share, and every word of encouragement helps us protect childhood in the midst of crisis.
