Millicent is determined to breat the circle of poverty in her family, her mum gave birth to her when she was only 14 years old, and here she is nursing a 2 year old baby at 18 - "I am going to make my Mama proud and to bring change in my family.
Millicent's mum - Juliet lost her parents when she was only 10 years old, she was taken in by a family where she was defiled repeatedly and ended up becoming pregnant at 14, she dropped out of school in primary school. She sell used clothers to survive and take care of her 6 children. When she learnt that her daughter was pregnant, she we into depression and was referred to Polycom's Survivors Project group where women who have undergone tough life situations walk through the healing process.
Millicent because pregnant during the covid school break, she was already in high school, she had to drop out and with her mothers becoming unwell due to her condition was very unhappy. She is currently gaining a skill that will help in rebuilding her life.
Polycom through the project of Rebuilding Teenage mothers lives have managed is seeking to help girls like Millicent to rebuild their lives and to break the circle of poverty. Millicent chose undertake a Tailoring course, where she will learn how to make dresses and bags, she will then be supported to start her own business and support her people.
