Project Report
Dear Friends,
Thank you for standing with the people of North Kivu during one of the most difficult moments in their lives. Your generosity is helping transform compassion into action and bringing hope to families who have endured violence, displacement, and unimaginable loss.
Introduction
The humanitarian crisis in North Kivu continues to affect thousands of families whose lives have been disrupted by armed conflict. Following the occupation of Goma by armed groups, more than 42,600 people fled to Masisi and Nyiragongo in search of safety. Today, many are beginning the difficult journey home, only to find their communities devastated. Homes, schools, and essential infrastructure have been destroyed, while access to clean water, education, and basic services remains extremely limited.
Our project seeks to support these vulnerable families by rebuilding essential community infrastructure, improving access to safe drinking water, strengthening food security, and helping displaced families return home safely, voluntarily, and with dignity.
Current Situation
Although some families have started returning to their villages, the humanitarian needs remain overwhelming. Many communities lack functioning schools, reliable water sources, and basic public services. At the same time, approximately 60% of displaced families continue to live in Goma, where they face overcrowding, food insecurity, and uncertain futures.
The recovery process requires sustained humanitarian support to help families rebuild their lives and restore hope for future generations.
Project Objectives
The project aims to:
Progress Update
We are pleased to share that the project continues to move forward thanks to the support of our donors and our partnership with GlobalGiving.
At this stage, our team is conducting the initial preparation phase, including community consultations, coordination with local authorities and humanitarian partners, and the identification of technical specialists, facilitators, and community participants who will contribute to the successful implementation of the project.
Implementation is scheduled to begin in November 2025. These preparatory activities are essential to ensure that every intervention responds to the real priorities identified by affected communities.
Funding Update
The total project budget is US$125,000.
To date, we have raised US$100, representing the first step toward achieving this ambitious goal.
While this amount is modest, every contribution sends a powerful message to displaced families that they have not been forgotten. Each donation brings us one step closer to restoring schools, improving access to safe water, and helping communities rebuild their future.
We remain confident that, through our collaboration with GlobalGiving and the continued generosity of donors around the world, we will reach our fundraising target and deliver meaningful, lasting impact for thousands of families.
Expected Impact
With adequate funding, this project will enable thousands of displaced people to rebuild their lives in safer and healthier communities.
Families will gain improved access to clean water, children will have the opportunity to return to school, vulnerable households will receive support to strengthen food security, and communities will recover essential infrastructure that forms the foundation of long-term development.
Beyond physical reconstruction, this project will help restore dignity, rebuild trust, and strengthen peace among communities affected by years of violence and displacement.
Looking Ahead
Over the coming months, we will finalize project preparations and launch field activities in November 2025. As implementation progresses, we will continue sharing regular updates with our supporters, highlighting achievements, challenges, and the real stories of the families whose lives are being transformed through your generosity.
Every milestone will be possible because compassionate people choose to stand alongside those facing extraordinary hardship.
Thank You
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to every donor who has supported this project.
A special thank you goes to GlobalGiving for providing a trusted platform that connects our organization with compassionate people across the world. Your partnership allows local organizations like ours to reach communities that need help the most and gives hope to families rebuilding their lives after conflict.
Together, we believe that recovery is possible.
A Call to Action
Today, thousands of families in North Kivu are waiting for the opportunity to rebuild their homes, educate their children, and live in safety once again.
Your support can help turn that hope into reality.
No gift is too small. Every donation helps provide clean water, restore essential infrastructure, improve food security, and create safer communities for families recovering from conflict.
Please continue sharing this project with your friends, family, and networks. Together, we can restore dignity, strengthen resilience, and give thousands of displaced people the chance to build a better future.
Thank you for believing in the people of North Kivu and for walking this journey with us.
