Across Indonesia, some communities still worship in mosques that are damaged, unsafe, or lacking basic facilities. This project will support the construction and renovation of mosques in underserved areas, creating safer spaces for prayer, Qur'an learning, religious gatherings, and community activities. Barakatil Mukminin Mosque in Grobogan is one of the locations expected to benefit from this initiative.
Many mosques in low-income communities have deteriorated over time, while local residents often cannot afford major repairs. Damaged structures, poor ventilation, worn prayer areas, and limited facilities can make worship uncomfortable and unsafe. Barakatil Mukminin Mosque is mainly built from wood, has damaged sections, and serves families, older worshippers, and residents with limited financial resources.
The project will support mosque construction and renovation based on building conditions and community needs. Assistance may include structural repairs, stronger foundations, improved prayer areas, ventilation, carpets, fans, Qur'ans, a mihrab, and other essential facilities. Support will also cover assessments, construction supervision, monitoring, evaluation, and final handover to the local community.
Safer and more functional mosques will provide better spaces for worship, Qur'an learning, religious gatherings, and social activities. Children can learn in a more supportive environment, families can gather more comfortably, and older worshippers can pray more safely. In the long term, these mosques can strengthen community bonds and continue serving as centres of faith, learning, and mutual support for generations.
