Strengthening Haiti's Information and Media Landscape

By Agnes Chen | Senior Private Development Associate

Thank you for your interest in and support of our work in Haiti. Since 2006, Internews and our national partners have been leaders in conducting internationally funded media work in Haiti. Our programs contribute to building healthy information ecosystems at the local level through strengthening the role of the media in civil society, providing critical and timely information to affected populations during humanitarian emergencies, providing up-to-date analysis on information producers and consumers, and holding authorities accountable to communicate more effectively with citizens.

Our current information ecosystem assessment in the Port-au-Prince area of Haiti is conducted in close partnership with Panos Caribbean and provides a foundational snapshot of how information moves, what are the trusted channels and sources used by the community and why, and what issues/topics are most important to them. This research aims to strengthen media stakeholders’ ability understand and effectively respond to Port-au-Prince’s information ecosystem challenges. Learn more here.

This initiative, amplified through support from friends like you, will serve media outlets and civil society seeking to make good information accessible to the population in Port-au-Prince and beyond—which is ever more critical in Haiti’s increasingly difficult humanitarian, political, economic, and social context. We hope you will stay connected with us through our other projects on GlobalGiving or by signing up for our newsletter.
