This income-generating project supports 2,000 vulnerable women and men in Bukavu, DR Congo, through microcredit, small business training, farming tools, and livestock. By restoring livelihoods lost to conflict, families rebuild income, improve nutrition, and send children back to school. Funds directly provide loans, seeds, goats, and training to restart sustainable businesses.
In Bukavu, DR Congo, conflict and insecurity have destroyed small businesses, farms, and livelihoods. Over 2,000 vulnerable women and men lost their income sources, leaving families without food, school fees, or stability. Many widowed mothers now support 4-8 children alone. Without access to capital or tools, they remain trapped in extreme poverty and food insecurity.
This project restores income through microcredit, small business training, and agricultural support. Families receive rotating loans, seeds, tools, and goats to restart farming, livestock, and small trade. Training in financial management strengthens long-term success. As loans are repaid, funds rotate to new beneficiaries, multiplying impact and rebuilding local economies sustainably.
By rebuilding income-generating activities, this project creates lasting economic stability in Bukavu. Women gain financial independence, children return to school, and families improve nutrition. Over time, rotating microcredit expands to more households, reducing poverty, strengthening local markets, and building resilient communities less vulnerable to future crises.
