Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry (WARM) plans to help six low-income homeowners rebuild and recover from Hurricane Florence damage. Utilizing volunteer labor and matching funds, we will repair and replace roofs, windows, doors, siding, and any other repairs needed to make the home stronger and sager than before.
Emergency and recovery funds from government sources are plentiful after a disaster. But they do not cover needs of low-income homeowners. Indeed, FEMA representatives will tell you the agency "is not designed to make you whole". FEMA awards typically cover one-third of the cost of returning the home to its pre-storm condition. Donations from you are critical to restoring our community to wholeness.
With additional funding, WARM will utilize volunteers to complete repair projects so families can move back into their homes.
By completing the home repairs from Hurricane Florence damage, communities will be stabilized, families will be able to retain their asset, their home, and live in an environment that is free of health threats such as mold.
