Rebuild 200 women's homes destroyed by Bihar flood

On 16^th August 2017, Forbesganj Bihar was hit by one of its worst floods in recent times. It had a terrible effect in the Red Light Areas of Forbesganj and Araria district and the other places where Apne  Aap Women Worldwide works with the children, adolescent girls, and women who are often immersed in poverty, are low-caste, and often uneducated, making them disproportionately vulnerable to being targeted by traffickers. After the flood, serious problems have been encountered by the inmates. In this flood, about 200 houses of the women completely turned to rubble. The homes of 200 women and 100 children we work with were destroyed in the floods, and it has led to an uptick in recruitment and targeting by traffickers of women and girls in the area which has made them more vulnerable than they previously were. 

Apne Aap with the help of donation received was able to rebuild homes for seventeen women, a community center and a computer center in the red-light area of Forbesganj. The women whose houses were rebuild were the survivors or were from extremely backward caste communities and were at high risk of prostitution and trafficking. The community center caters to the educational and nutritional needs of the first-generation and computer center opens a new door of opportunities for the adolescent girls from the red-light areas of Forbesganj.
