Capacity building and training of volunteers

By Sulyman Luqman | Project Coordinator

Dear supporters,

It is our pleasure to update you on this project.

In February, we undertook Capacity Building to enhance the understanding of the volunteers and enlighten them about their roles on literacy through reading in the school. This was part of the training of Volunteers, and was carried out successfully in the two schools selected for the project.

18 students and 7 teachers including the school librarian, head of English department and Vice principal on Academic were trained about their roles on the promotion of literacy through reading in Community Secondary School, Ijua, in Busi Ward, Obanliku.

12 pupils and 9 teachers including the Head Teacher and the Deputy were trained about their roles on the promotion of literacy through reading in Roman Catholic Mission primary School, Obanliku.

About 128 people were indirectly reached. Refreshment was provided for the participants in the 2 schools. Training materials given to all the participants in secondary school. Training materials given to teachers only in primary school.

Overall, 46 volunteers were trained and enlightened about their roles on promotion of literacy through reading.

Thanks again for being a part of this project!
