Children Training in IT - 1

We first appreciate our donors and wish them a happy new year. We hope that your new year of 2026 proves successful, beneficial and fruitful.

Before we reach out to 2026, let us recall that we have a responsibility for ensuring that education continues to be provided. NHSD agrees with it in principle, and continues to engage with the local community. In particular, the focus is on out-of-school children who are from extremely poor, poverty struck, lacking social capital families who have no means of attaining upward social mobility. With the population below the poverty line being approximately 45% of the population, it stands to reason that we must respond back to it.

NHSD has been providing students with trainings in the context of IT work. NHSD has been working in collaboration with local firms to increase opportunities for these students. These registered firms, through consistent support as part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and acknowledging the importance of donor funding for a specified cause, are determined to ensure that the needs of the local populations are met.

So far, NHDS has helped with the training of more than 350 students since the start of "Ray of Hope" and this number has been projected to increase to at least 500 by 2026. These students, of all ages, are being introduced to computers as a resource that is available to them to use.

These apprentices were taught about Office automation, basic computer skills, and were given opportunities to express themselves through graphic designing. Furthermore, they were also given training in writing in Urdu using free and open source software with a focus towards allowing them to attain skills which will benefit them in the future. Endeavors are now being made that by Dec 2026, a standard curriculum (approved by NAVTTC and international standards, which utilizes free and open source software) is utilized towards the increased training and improvement of children.

Our endeavors to ensure that the provision of these trainings continues to be a standard part. We hope that with "Ray of Hope" we continue to provide a ray of hope for these children, that they may be able to grow in whichever field they choose to pursue, and at least by matriculation, they have oppoortunities for sustainable livelihood.
