This Ramadan, we invite you to support a sustainable and life-changing project for children in the remote Asni region of Morocco, devastated by the 2023 earthquake. Many children here are forced to drop out of school or travel long, unsafe distances to access education. This project will provide 500 mattresses for our two new boarding houses, creating a safe, stable environment where children can access quality education, focus on learning, and build a better future with dignity and hope.
Located in the Atlas Mountains, Asni is a remote region with long-standing barriers to education, including limited school access and difficult terrain. The September 2023 earthquake intensified these challenges, damaging homes, schools and infrastructure, leaving many families without safe housing. As a result, children, especially girls, are forced to drop out of school or travel long, unsafe distances each day, putting their safety, wellbeing, and future educational opportunities at risk.
The boarding houses will allow children to attend school whilst staying in a safe and supportive environment, with all spaces being completely disability-accessible. We have specially designed highly innovative easy-to-clean mattresses. These mattresses ensure longevity, comfort, hygiene, and care for children who have survived trauma, where nighttime accidents are common. A clean bed offers safety, stability, and peace of mind.
Supplying good quality mattress will allow the children to stay at the boarding houses during the week and thus accesses education without long unsafe journeys. Furthermore, high quality sleep is vital to children's ability to actively participate in school and learn effectively. Quality education will allow these children to break the cycle of poverty they were born into by unlocking lifelong opportunities, economic independence, and the ability to uplift entire communities for generations.
