As of June 11, 2010- our volunteers in Chazuta, Peru, have reported that the initial stages of our project has been completed-the volunteers have toured six different areas (three in Peru and three in the United States) in order to direct the Kichwa artisans into a market that will be profitable and sustainable.
The current financing of the project has used a mere $40 for all of those tasks- photographing products, interviewing small business managers, and travelling to a variety of sites to find a match or niche for the Kichwa artisans.
Stage 2 started on June 13, 2010- The volunteer group is currently in Chazuta and working with the indigenous tribe in order to actually create a workflow for the process of making arts and crafts as well as the brooms. Stage 2 involves surveying, hands-on learning, before attempting to improve the workflow that is currently in place in Chazuta.
