Crop diversification
Dear Friend,
Warm greetings and thank you very much for your generous support to our project improving the integrity of the rainforest in Mindanao. Our rainforest is very biodiverse being in the tropics however years of neglect and abuse has resulted to upland denudation and massive loss of biodiversity. The need to improve and enhance our forest environment really needs urgent attention and we can do this by working with local communities so that they are able to realize the value of our forest resources. This reporting period, we continue to develop our learning site for crop diversification and this is a showcase for farmers around the area. Aside from being a showcase they can also procure seeds and planting materials that they can use in their farms. The farm is 12 hectares and different crops are grown.
Hoping for your continuing support.
Very sincerely yours,
Jed Christian

High-yielding banana
Dear Friend,
Warm greetings and thank you very much for your generous support to our project improving the biodiversity of our rainforest here. Our approach this time is to introduce to farmers high-yielding and upgraded varieties of crops so that their incomes are enhanced at the same time the biodiversity of the area is improved also. The crops that we are introducing include cacao, banana, coffee, durian and other fruit and timber trees. The promise is tremendous increase in income for an area of their farm. Without access to high yielding and improved crop varieties, the farmers are at the losing end with low productivity and poverty always facing them. We are able to provide 75 farmers with this type of inputs during this reporting period.
Hoping for your continuing support.
Very sincerely yours,
Jed Christian

Improving resources
Dear Friend,
Good day to all of you and thank you very much for your support to our project improving the biodiversity of the rainforest here in Mindanao. Due to logging and entry of small-scale farmers into deep forested mountains, the result is loss of important, endemic flora and fauna. Being tropical in nature, our forest is home to plants and animals that could nowhere be found around the world. There is an urgent need to protect them and preserve them for future generations. During this reporting period, we train a group of youth in the science of producing organic fertilizer from waste around the farm. Aside from organic fertilizer we provided them training on the production of organic concoctions like lactic acid bacteria, effective microorganisms and using earthworms in composting. A total of 45 youth-leaders were trained and they were guided into making back home action plans in order to capacitate also their neighbours to do the same.
Hoping for your continuing support to our project.
Very sincerely yours,
Jed Christian
