Dear R.O.A.R. Fund Supporters,
The organizations of the R.O.A.R. Fund continue to help animals around the world thanks to your generous support. To maximize the support to these fantastic organizations, GlobalGiving will be hosting a matching campaign for Animal Planet’s R.O.A.R. partners that will run from September 8th - October 7th! We will provide the details of this year’s campaign the first week of September so be sure to check out the R.O.A.R page for more information at that time!
Here is a quick update about the great work these organizations are doing for our animal friends...
Earthwatch Institute has a new team of volunteers to continue monitoring turtle activity and analyzing data collected. Turtle activity is strongest in the mid-summer to fall months, and this is when the majority of data collection will take place so the Earthwatch Institute is eager for a good season of turtle activity!
EQUUS Foundation had a banner year for scholarship money awarded to their excellent volunteers. More than $11,000 in scholarships were awarded to thirteen individuals to reward their volunteer service in 2013. This year the EQUUS Foundation awarded a scholarship to cover the registration fee for an individual to become a PATH Intl. Registered Level Certified Instructor!
The Jane Goodall Institute continues to provide amazing care for chimpanzees like Kefan. Kefan recently made an exciting move from the over-crowded santuary to Tchibebe Island, one of three lush, forested island habitats JGI is readying for the transfer of over 100 chimpanzees!
Petfinder Foundation has improved the lives of thousands of shelter dogs through the help of generous donors. Finley, Smiley, and Suzy are three dogs that have recently been cared for by the Petfinder Foundation and will hopefully be adopted soon!
Villalobos Rescue Center is in the process of building a separate kennel for dogs that have heartworm to try to limit the potential spread of the disease. Heartworm is not a communicable disease amongst humans or dogs but can be spread by mosquitos. They are continuing to help dogs overcome this disease.
Thank you again for your help in making these accomplishments possible! And don’t forget to take advantage of the 2014 R.O.A.R. matching funds between September 8th and October 7th!
